Sporting a 1.43-inch AMOLED circular display with a resolution of 466×466 pixels, this cutting-edge display technology features Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode (AMOLED) technology. AMOLED employs an active matrix approach to individually control each pixel, resulting in vibrant visuals. Operating on Google’s Wear OS 4, the OnePlus Watch 2 offers a single configuration with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

Fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ chipset, the OnePlus Watch 2 is compatible with Android 8.0 and higher. Boasting an extensive array of over 100 sports modes and automatic workout detection, this smartwatch ensures versatility in fitness tracking. Additionally, it incorporates advanced sleep tracking analysis, capturing data on deep sleep, light sleep, sleep breathing rate, and more, to provide comprehensive insights into sleep patterns.

Equipped with an optical heart sensor, blood oxygen sensor, ambient light sensor, barometer, and an array of other sensors, the OnePlus Watch 2 is designed to offer thorough health monitoring capabilities.

Featuring 32GB of internal storage for standalone music playback, along with a microphone and speaker, the OnePlus Watch 2 provides versatility for on-the-go communication. Supporting Bluetooth calling, it ensures seamless connectivity. With a 500mAh battery onboard, the OnePlus Watch 2 offers an impressive battery life of up to 100 hours in ‘smart mode’ and up to 48 hours under heavy use.

OnePlus asserts that the Watch 2 can achieve a full charge within just 60 minutes when utilizing a 7.5W VOOC fast charger. The OnePlus Watch 2 features a robust stainless steel body measuring 47.0 x 46.6 x 12.1mm. The right friend for fitness

In Smart Mode, the OnePlus Watch 2 enables the use of various Google apps such as Maps, Assistant, Wallet, Calendar, and Gmail. It offers 20 pre-installed watch faces with an additional 80 available for download. The Power Saver Mode conserves energy by utilizing only the RTOS, yet it maintains essential functionalities such as sleep and heart rate tracking, sports modes like swimming and cycling, and even call capabilities. With Power Saver enabled, the watch can extend its battery life up to 12 days.

For comprehensive health monitoring, the watch includes an optical pulse oximeter, which assesses sleep phases, rates sleep quality, monitors breathing rate and oxygen levels, and evaluates the risk of snoring during sleep tracking. Stress monitoring is also available through heart rate variability analysis.

In Running mode, the watch utilizes GPS and other sensors to track runs and performance metrics such as vertical amplitude, ground contact time, balance, maximal oxygen consumption, and stride length. This not only tracks progress but also serves as a personalized running coach.

Similarly, the OnePlus Watch 2 offers dedicated modes for Tennis and Badminton, meticulously recording the number and types of swings taken, as well as the variety of shots played, including forehand, backhand, topspin, slice, and more. Additionally, the Skiing mode tracks various metrics such as maximum and average speed, maximum slope, altitude, and more, providing comprehensive insights into your skiing sessions.

The arrival of the OnePlus Watch 2 signifies a significant advancement for OnePlus in the realm of smartwatches, signaling a substantial expansion of its ecosystem. While renowned for its smartphones, OnePlus now demonstrates prowess in the smartwatch domain.

The OnePlus Watch 2 stands out as a ‘hybrid’ smartwatch, seamlessly transitioning between a comprehensive fitness tracker with an impressive 12-day battery life and a fully functional smartwatch capable of handling tasks like navigating with Google Maps or messaging on WhatsApp. In my experience with the watch over the past week, it has truly impressed me.

The software is the standout feature of the OnePlus Watch 2. Running a blend of Wear OS, powered by the Snapdragon W5 chipset, and an RTOS on the BES 2700, this hybrid OS offers a compelling solution.
