Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again demonstrated his commitment by releasing the 16th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme to the welfare of farmers. On the auspicious occasion of February 28th, farmers across the nation received a direct transfer of Rs 2000 into their accounts, marking another milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to uplift agricultural communities.
The distribution ceremony, led by Prime Minister Modi himself, took place in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, symbolizing the government’s dedication to reaching farmers in every corner of the country. This latest installment amounts to a staggering Rs 21,000 crore, benefiting over 9 crore farmer families.
Under the kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, farmers receive an annual financial assistance of Rs 6000, disbursed in three equal installments of Rs 2000 each at four-month intervals. This consistent support aims to alleviate financial burdens and empower farmers to invest in their agricultural activities for enhanced productivity.
However, it’s essential to note the eligibility criteria for participation in the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Farmers must fulfill certain conditions to avail themselves of the benefits. Those who pay income tax, utilize agricultural land for non-agricultural purposes, or do not hold land titles in their names are excluded from the scheme. Additionally, government employees, retired individuals, elected representatives, and certain professionals are ineligible for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme benefits.
In cases where eligible farmers encounter issues with fund disbursement, they are encouraged to reach out for assistance. The official email ID, pmkisan-ict @gov.in, serves as a platform for resolving queries and ensuring that all deserving beneficiaries receive their rightful dues.
Beyond the PM-Kisan scheme, the government has introduced various initiatives to further bolster agricultural prosperity. Notably, the Namo Shetkari Mahasamman Nidhi, aimed at supporting farmers in Maharashtra, has seen substantial disbursements, benefiting approximately 88 lakh farmers in the state.

Development projects worth Rs 4900 crore have been inaugurated, alongside the distribution of revolving funds to women self-help groups (SHGs) and the launch of healthcare initiatives such as Ayushman cards.
