The IPL 2024 schedule has been unveiled
The IPL 2024 schedule has been unveiled, featuring the initial lineup of 21 matches, with the opening clash set between Chennai and RCB at the Chennai Stadium. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal confirmed that this year’s IPL tournament will be held in India, with the schedule being released on Thursday, February 22, coinciding with the 17th season of IPL.
Reflecting on past seasons, the entirety of IPL 2009 took place in South Africa, while in 2014, select matches were held in the United Arab Emirates due to concurrent elections in India.
The inaugural match, pitting defending champions Chennai Super Kings against RCB, is scheduled for March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Notably, Chennai has hosted inaugural matches in several previous seasons, including 2009, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023.
The Delhi team is set to commence their campaign with their first two matches in Visakhapatnam. However, the complete IPL schedule remains pending due to the ongoing general elections. A detailed schedule will be issued post the announcement of the election day.
